(Kitapta Bölüm)
….Yakın geçmişte liderlik çalışmalarının, odak noktasının takipçilerin bakış açısı yönüyle değerlendiren örtük liderlik kuramına daha çok önem verildiği gözlenebilmektedir. Liderin varlığı için takipçilerin gerekliliği, örtük liderlik kavramının bakış açısının temelini oluşturmuştur (Tabak vd., 2010: 73). Örtük liderlik teorisi, liderleri neyin etkili kıldığını tanımlayan lider merkezli yaklaşımın aksine, liderin takipçilerinin beklentilerini veya lider algılarını anlamaya çalışarak takipçi merkezli bir yaklaşım benimser. Teoriye ilişkin oldukça geniş alanyazın geçmişi olmasına karşın, takipçilerin liderlik algılarını ortaya çıkarmak için kullanılabilecek genelleyici bir bağlam ortaya konulamamıştır (Magsaysay ve Hechanova, 2017: 834). Çalışmanın ilerleyen bölümlerinde de görüleceği gibi örtük liderlik alt boyutları incelendiğinde birçok farklı faktörün örtük teorilerin oluşmasında etkili olduğunu söylemek mümkündür….
